Taxis

Exeter has numerous taxi firms, but we recommend and regularly use Apple Taxis as they have offices at both Exeter St David’s Train Station and Exeter International Airport. They can be contacted on 01392 666666.

By Train

The nearest train station is Exeter St David’s which is a very short taxi ride or 15-20-minute walk up to the Peter Chalk Centre.    If you are staying close to the town centre then you can either walk from St Davids (15-minutes) or take a train to Exeter Central.  For tickets and train times visit – https://www.thetrainline.com/

By Air

Exeter Airport

The nearest airport is Exeter International Airport, around 10 miles from the Peter Chalk Centre/Exeter city centre. Exeter airport is a relatively small airport with limited direct options from European countries. To check from which airports you can fly to Exeter from, please visit www.exeter-airport.co.uk/flights-holidays.

Taxis from the airport will take approximately 25 minutes (traffic depending) and can be pre-booked from Apple Central Taxis via their website http://appletaxisexeter.co.uk/ or by calling 01392 666 666.

Bristol Airport

Bristol airport serves many more destinations than our local Exeter airport and is approximately 70 miles from Exeter.  For information on where you can fly from to Bristol see – https://www.bristolairport.co.uk/where-can-i-fly/explore-destinations/ (note some destinations might not be all year round).

You can travel from Bristol Airport to Exeter 4 different ways:

  • Car Hire – You can hire a car from 9 different companies based on or near to the airport – https://www.bristolairport.co.uk/to-and-from-the-airport/car-hire/   It is approx. 1.5 hours journey to Exeter.
  • Taxi – Taxis can be pre-booked with any local Bristol or Exeter taxi company
  • Airport Flyer/Train – The Airport Flyer bus services makes it quick and easy to travel between the airport and Bristol Temple Meads train station. The bus service runs 24 hours daily, up to every 12 minutes.   • South West Falcon – This service connects Bristol Airport to Exeter.  There are 20 services a day, 7 days a week, journey time is 1 hour 45.  For tickets and timetables visit – https://uk.megabus.com/falcon
    The Exeter Falcon stop is Sowton Park and Ride which is a short walk (5 mins) to take a train from Digby and Sowton station to Exeter Central/St Davids or you could take a 5-10 minute taxi to your accommodation/conference.
London Heathrow Airport

Travel to Exeter from Heathrow can be either be rail or by coach.

  • Train – From Heathrow Airport, take the Heathrow Express train or the London Underground (Piccadilly Line or Elizabeth line) to London Paddington Station.  The Heathrow Express is faster but more expensive, while the Piccadilly/Elizabeth Line is more affordable but takes longer.  Once you reach London Paddington Station, you will need to transfer to a train heading to Exeter.  The journey from London Paddington to Exeter St Davids typically takes around 2-3 hours, depending on the type of train and stops along the way.
  • Coach – Heathrow Airport offers direct coach services to Exeter.  You can book tickets from National Express or at the coach station within the airport. https://www.nationalexpress.com/en Board the coach at the Heathrow Central Bus Station (Terminal 2 and 3) or Terminal 5 Bus Station, depending on your location within the airport.  The coach journey to Exeter typically takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and stops along the route.  The coach will drop you off at the Exeter Bus and Coach Station, which is centrally located in Exeter, making it convenient to access the city.

The meeting language is English, no simultaneous translation is provided

Accessibility

Inclusion and accessibility for all is hugely important to us, our aim being to expertly manage events from behind the scenes so that our visitors can relax and enjoy their visit to our venues.

With this in mind, all buildings on the University campuses have been reviewed with regards to accessibility and have been updated to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act.  The Peter Chalk centre and rooms we will be using for the conference all have accessible entrances/facilities, however, please do flag to our team if you have an accessibility or disability need whilst attending the conference.  We will make sure that your needs are fully supported throughout the duration of the conference.

Catering & Dietary needs

For those with specific dietary requirements e.g. gluten free, vegan, nut free –your food will be plated individually. Please make staff aware of this when at the buffet and they will be able to ensure you are provided the correct food.

Quiet/Prayer Space

Throughout the event, all attendees will have access to a quiet space should they wish to use it – this space will be signposted. If at any point you would like to speak with a member of the team, please do pull one of us aside as we will be more than happy to help.
