SGGD Travel Awards

What is a Travel Award and what can it be used for?

An award of (up to) £250 to be used to support your attendance which can be used for the registration fee, travel to Exeter or accommodation when in Exeter.

Who can apply for a Travel Award?

The candidate must be from a low or middle-income country (as defined by the DAC List http://tinyurl.com/2khdsd8u) and must provide a letter of support from their supervisor noting that the conference is of particular interest to the institution. Exceptionally, applicants from upper-middle income countries may apply, but must demonstrate need of financial support.

What conditions apply?

  • The number of awards available will be restricted based on anticipated event attendance.
  • Priority will be given to early-career scientists and according to need.
  • Awards must be applied for prior to the meeting.
  • Once approved, awards will be claimable in arrears on production of electronic receipts.

What should you tell us?

  • Career stage.
  • Country applying from.
  • A brief (max 300 words) justification of the need for this award.
  • Please provide a letter of support from your supervisor or institution. 

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Please submit your request to sggd2024@exeter.ac.uk by Thursday 15th February 2024 – please use ‘SGGD Travel Award Request’ as the subject of your email. You will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your request within one week of submission. 

You will be notified approximately 2 weeks after the deadline whether your request has been approved.

SGGD Carer’s Award

What is a Carer’s Award and what can it be used for?

An award of (up to) £250 to be used as you think will best support your attendance to the SGGD conference.

Who can apply for a Carer’s Award?

Any delegate can apply, regardless of age of person they are caring for.

What conditions apply?

  • The number of awards available will be restricted based on anticipated event attendance.
  • Priority will be given to early-career scientists and according to need.
  • Awards must be applied for prior to the meeting.
  • Once approved, awards will be claimable in arrears on production of electronic receipts.

What should you tell us?

  • Career stage.
  • Description of caregiver role. (Note: there is no age limit restriction for dependent).
  • A brief (max 300 words) justification of the need for this award.
